We provide food, clothing, and other resources to hungry, homeless, and impoverished people in urban areas. The people we serve are treated with the dignity, respect, and love that every person deserves.
Most nonprofits, businesses, and other organizations pulled back during the pandemic. The Urban Hunger Project did the exact opposite. We served more people and increased our programs as the pandemic grew worse. We go where others will not.
As an outgrowth of the SALT (Mt 5:13) "Serving All with Love Together" Ministry, the Urban Hunger Project has expanded its mission substantially and works with a wide variety of groups, religious and non-religious, to address growing hunger and homelessness in Baltimore City and beyond. UHP has collaborated to serve more than 100,000 people annually since the year 2000.
Thousands of people on the street are served hot meals, fresh produce, and bagged lunches each month. They are also provided with clothing and other necessities.
Each week we offer many opportunities for individuals, churches, and other organizations to volunteer to help people. Volunteers make and deliver food, collect and distribute clothing, distribute food boxes in neighborhoods, and connect people with agencies and organizations for assistance.
Nothing is more basic to human survival than food. It is hard for hungry people to work, go to school, and live with dignity. The Urban Hunger Project feeds people and provides them with hope and opportunity. Please join us to make a difference!
